On March 24, 2022, at Foodlatory EduPlex, Dago, a field trip or external class lecture involving students from the 2019 and 2020 batches of the Journalism Program was held. The event was attended by experienced speakers in the field of journalism, namely Rani Ummi Fadilah from the year 2005, representing Pikiran Rakyat, and Nur Khansa from the year 2011, representing Ayo Bandung. Additionally, several alumni of Journalism who had graduated earlier were also present, including Supriyatno from the 1991 batch, Achmad Jaelani from the 1992 batch, and Dhenok Hastuti from the 1993 batch.
This meeting provided an opportunity for students from the 2019 and 2020 batches to gain a clearer understanding of the challenges faced by the journalism profession today. One of the challenges discussed was the threat posed by technological advancements, including the influence of social media platform algorithms and Search Engine Optimization (SEO) on news content. The speakers provided insights and solutions on how to address these challenges.
Furthermore, during the event, several students were given the opportunity to intern at Creatilatory. This was a valuable chance for the students to gain practical experience in the journalism industry. Through this internship, they could expand their knowledge and skills in dealing with the ever-evolving world of journalism.
The purpose of this field trip/external class lecture was to provide Journalism students with a deeper understanding of the technological challenges in the journalism profession and to offer real opportunities for them to apply their knowledge through internships at Creatilatory. Hopefully, this event will serve as a good initial step for students in preparing themselves to face the ever-changing and developing world of journalism.
